The 28 North Brewhouse and Beer

28 North Custom Beer Works is a craft brewery opening soon in Ashburn, VA. While the brewery is new, it carries on a strong brewing heritage in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Matt Hagerman, President and Founder and Favio Garcia, Director of Brewing Operations are industry veterans and spent many years as brew masters with Old Dominion Brewing Company. They were responsible for many of the most popular brews that had been offered by Old Dominion and they plan to continue this tradition at 28 North. Matt and Favio actually purchased much of the brewhouse and pub furniture from the closed brewery before Old Dominion moved to Delaware.

The first brew offered by 28 North is Rhino Chasers Pacific Pils. Rhino Chasers are surfers that seek out monster waves. They have a laid back attitude and yet still display an adventurous side in their pursuit of the perfect wave. Matt and Favio have completed a test brew at Vintage 50 in Leesburg and it is currently available on draft at that location.

Favio commented that “our goal is to provide this supportive Northern Virginia and D.C. community with high quality craft beers that local beer lovers have come to expect from us.” Matt believes that 28 North represents a road to adventure. “While Rhino Chasers is our first beer, the ensuing brews will all have a connection to adventure sports such as mountain biking, rock climbing, etc. 28 North is your road to great beer.”
